Threshold...

What's Threshold?
It is the reduction of a photo to straight black and white.  As the artist you can change 
the balance of black to white in your composition.  We will be manipulating the contrast 
balance and adding color as we go.

Steps.
1. copy bkgrd
2. image-adjustments-threshold
3. magic wand- select white/select similar/delete
4. select inverse
5. begin color scheme: what are you looking for with color in the image?
6. paintbrush/color/ ctrl D= deselect
7. repeat

This is great intro to digital painting.  Choose an image from your Hartman Creek shoot 

for this piece.  Choose a color scheme that creates the mood you would like to convey 

with this piece.  Cool colors are quiet and melancholy, while warm colors are exciting
and cheerful. 

Fine Art Canvases...
this should definitely work in a series...
minimum of 3 canvases working as a series piece created of only textures/brushes 

with the use of color/composition/variety/repetition... MAKE IT GREAT.

Rubric will be in the N-drive and we will follow the same kind of routine.

Spring has finally arrived!

Thank you for a fantastic trip to Hartman Creek on Friday.  Lots of sun, great costumes and tons of wildlife! I can hardly wait for the contact sheets :)

Speaking of contact sheets...please get those Hartman pictures loaded into your 'H' drive.  Save and fill out your rubric.  Print your contact sheet from Friday's shoot and get them all turned in today.

Finish up your Fine Art canvases this week and hand them in.  Hand them in separately and as a combined trio.  Print the trio for me.  Complete the rubric in the turn-in folder.  Hand in as a hard copy with the printed trio.

Art show tags need to be completed by tomorrow, if I talked to you last week.

-practice with macro mode or the flower setting
-Be safe, be smart...we want to enjoy the day.

2. Develop 3 Fine Art canvases

Our Hartman Creek field trip is this Friday.  Did you turn in your money and permission slip!  Please get this to me no later than this Wednesday.

Fine Art Canvases
-3 canvases should be created that are visually related.  You will be using textures and brushes primarily.  There should not be people in these pieces.
-Think about theme and composition.  Refer to earlier posts about composition.

Wednesday

1. portraiture and the value you can find by making it look awesome.. do you need more than one canvas to convey to the viewer what you want them to see?  (this isn't about just making it look nice.. make it be more...  In other words is your portrait more than just an enhanced photograph?)

2. canvas creations w/ brushes and textures....  it can be anything.  gory and gruesome/ happy and jolly/ sick/ posterized/ abstract/ real/...think about a theme to create a starting point. Create depth, use visual elements to tie the 3 canvases together.

3. equipment checked out?  Please return it.

4. permission slip need to be turned in to me asap.  $6 secures your seat on the bus.  We will have assignments based on the pictures on this trip, so yes, it's important!

Art Show is coming up!  Some of you may be asked to create a tag for your art work to 

be displayed.

Alliteration... pretty much my favorite combination when looking for titles.
The continuation of the starting consanant sound!  Fun Stuff...

Portraiture should be rapping up this week.  The turn-in folder is available with the rubric.

Do you have school equipment to return?  Get it returned!

Please get you permission slips returned for the field trip on April 26th.  See me if

you did not get a permission slip.

Fine Art Triptych-a 3 image series that could be displayed together or alone.

Again, you all have a lot of great things to resource but this is mainly created with 

brushes and textures.

Think Composition & Color... that is what we are highlighting today!

Light Photography.

Where: Riverview seating area.... angled at river + bridge. Nepco Hill as cars 
are leaving/coming to WR.
Lights on people/bikes/boards.. moving by as your camera is positioned by a tripod.
You will need to work the setting of the camera; lengthening the shutter speed.
This is a lot of experimenting and working with trial/error.

If this is of  interest to you and you can product the material we will slot this
 in for a project grade!
