Term Wrap-up

These projects are due the last day of the term following the procedure listed below:


Digital Painting

  • Turn in a PDS file of your painting(s) to the N drive turn-in folder
  • Turn-in a JPEG file of your painting(s) to the N drive turn-in folder
  • Complete your rubric based on the painting you would like graded and print it
  • Print a color version of your paintings
  • Staple the printed documents together and turn in

Animation
  • Export your animation and place in the N drive
  • Complete the rubric and print it out and turn it in

Painting Exercise

All students will complete a small sample painting for class. It will be graded. Once this sample painting is complete, you may either animate of paint.

Exercise:
-Use your seed character in full if it is simple or just the shoulders and head, if it is complex.
-Bring it into Photoshop and create new layer. Use the paint brush to "sketch" the image in the new layer.
-Use the wacom tutorials to set up your drawing tablet.
-Next watch the tutorials for layer masks and grouping. Using your photoshop sketch try out the techniques the tutorials focus on.
-Watch part I-V for painting techniques. Try out the techniques as the tutorial recommends.
-Work on the seed character applying the painting tips.

Painting Requirements:

  1. Complete the painting exercise.
  2. A preliminary sketch or personal photograph is required to be turned in before final painting can begin.
  3. Composition needs to be addressed. Review the Composition video if needed. Is there a center of interest? Is the composition complete with depth that shows the environment? 
  4. Once a final composition has been graded and approved, you may begin your final painting.



Animation Students


  1. Write the story for 1 minute(or more) animation (1560 frames at 26 fps). This will be turned in before moving forward. There are 2 scripts in the Google to use for writing the story. Share the script with me once it is finished,
  2. Next take that story and place it in the story board pages from the Google Drive. These will also be turned in for grading.
  3. Once the script and story boards are complete, you may start the animation.
  4. At this time, Photoshop is the only animation program available on our computers.

Animation and Photoshop Painting

Today we will complete the Photoshop animation process.
Those students planning to continue in Animation please complete the Animate Grow a Tree tutorial next.
On Monday, I will begin to introduce the Photoshop painting unit. I will have a small required sample painting for everyone to complete.
All Portrait need to be turned in by Friday with the completed rubric.

Illustrator Wrap-up

Pen Tool Test!
-This is a timed test, so don't start until directed.
-Open the test (Google Drive)
-Set fill to no fill, and the stroke to a color to contrast with black
-Select the pen tool, and wait to start the test.

Work time.
- Finishing up Portraits-coming for ie if you need more time,
-Tomorrow we will be moving into animation and then digital painting. You will be able to choose either or both. If you choose both, you will be creating smaller assignments of each one. If you choose one, you will have the remainder of the term to create your piece.
-Tutorials will be provided for both units that everyone will complete and turn in.

Portrait Lab Time and Wrap-up

Over the next 3 days, the portrait assignment should be being finished up. Those who have finished the assignment, can work on related designs using Illustrator. The designs can be personal illustrations or based on a tutorial. 

All designs created created during this unit after the practice pieces will be turn-in, and evaluated as a group.

We will be starting animation next week, starting in photoshop. We will then move into Flash or Animate, depending on what's available in the lab.
