Front View Portrait

Use the first half of class to keep practicing the pen tool. Once you feel you have a good handle on the techniques, then you can turn in your practice templates into the turn-in folder in the N-Drive.

Quick hint: Several people were struggling with stopping the draing of the shape, adjusting, and restarting the shape. Try drawing the shape. Hit enter or esc to end the line. Next click one of the end anchors (beginning or end). It will show a minus next to the pen tool, but it will not delete this point (or it shouldn't delete it :P) Continue to complete the shape. This is tricky to master. Another way is to complete the shape, and go back after with the white arrow to tidy the shape up. Misty can get me on messenger if there are simple questions during class.

Open your Practice Portrait. This is the front view Portrait. Look back at the portrait I posted on the first day of class. Think about which facial features you would like to trace. Use a color that stands out against the portrait, so you can see it easily. Remeber to look at the layers panel. Did you select the tracing layer? If not, select it, and begin tracing the features. Try different methods for the eyebrows, and hair. See what you like best. You can play with stroke weigh too. On Monday we will look at your progress, and start talking about color.
